Product Structure

Pipe Body 

The core load-bearing component of the drill pipe is generally rolled from a special alloy steel seamless steel tube, typically covering multiple steel grades of the X/G/S series (such as X95, G105, S135, etc.). It bears tensile, torsional, and alternating impact loads during the drilling process and accounts for more than 90% of the total length of the drill pipe.

Upset/Transition Zone

The transition structure connecting the pipe body and the tool joint is divided into two types: internal upset and external upset. By increasing the cross-sectional size of the connection part, the stress distribution is optimized to avoid stress concentration and fracture at the connection between the pipe body and the joint, and to adapt to the load requirements of different working conditions.

Tool Joint 

The connecting components at both ends of the rod are generally forged from alloy steel and are divided into a male end with external threads (Pin End) and a female end with internal threads (Box End). They are used to connect drill pipes in series, as well as to connect to angular drill pipes and downhole drilling tools, and bear the entire load of the drill pipe string.

Precision API Thread 

The standard connection threads machined on the tool connector conform to internationally recognized thread specifications such as API REG, API IF, and API FH. The thread profile, pitch, and taper are precision machined to ensure connection strength and ease of installation, avoiding the risk of stripping or derailment during drilling.

Metal-to-Metal Sealing Shoulder

The metal sealing surface at the end of the tool connector, after the male and female threads are tightened, the shoulder surfaces at both ends fit tightly together, which can achieve zero leakage sealing during the drilling fluid circulation process. The pressure resistance level matches the maximum working pressure of the corresponding steel grade. Some high-end products will be equipped with elastic sealing rings at the shoulder to achieve double sealing.

Wear-Resistant Alloy Overlay 

The high-hardness wear-resistant structure welded onto the outer wall of the tool joint and the thickened transition zone is made of wear-resistant alloy materials such as tungsten carbide. It can reduce the frictional wear between the drill pipe and the well wall when drilling in dogleg sections and hard rock formations, and extend the service life of the drill pipe under complex working conditions.

Internal Anti-Corrosion Coating 

The protective layer coated on the inner wall of the pipe is mostly epoxy resin or graphite-based coating, which can prevent drilling fluid from corroding the inner wall of the pipe, reduce mud adhesion, and reduce circulating pressure loss. It is suitable for highly corrosive drilling scenarios such as acidic oil and gas fields and high sulfur content.

Built-in Valve Structure

Special functional structures integrated inside the pipe body are commonly found in specialized products such as ball-drop retrievable drill pipes and bypass valve drill pipes. They enable rapid opening and closing of the drill pipe string and bypass diversion through ball-dropping operations, meeting the special process requirements of controlled pressure drilling, underbalanced drilling, and other special processes.

Applicable scenarios: Covers the entire drilling operation of exploration wells, development wells, and adjustment wells in conventional oil and gas fields onshore/offshore, as well as unconventional oil and gas resources such as shale gas/tight oil/coalbed methane. All products are manufactured strictly according to API Spec 5D standards and can be provided with API monogram certificates. They also possess ISO 9001 quality management system certification and NACE MR0175 acidic environment suitability certification.

3. What quality inspection reports can you provide for the drill pipes? Are 100% NDT inspections conducted?

Material certificates, ultrasonic testing (UT), and magnetic particle testing (MT) reports are provided for each batch of products. 100% non-destructive testing is conducted during the production process. Third-party authoritative testing reports can also be provided upon your request.

4.What packaging and transportation methods do you adopt to ensure the drill pipes are not damaged during long-distance shipping?

The drill pipe is fixed with a special bracket and wrapped with anti-rust film + rainproof cloth packaging. It supports various logistics methods such as sea transportation, railway transportation.
